How would you like an inexpensive night out which is sociable, great fun and you get to learn a new skill – you can have all of that and more at Holmfirth Jive!! The most difficult step is that first one through the door – after that, the rest is easy!
Modern Jive is a partner dance, but you don’t have to bring a partner as there are lots of people to dance with. It is easy to learn as the footwork is quite simple. Most important of all, it is great fun and a brilliant way to make new friends.
We welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced dancers. New dancers will be greeted by one of our committee members – Craig, Dawn, Diane H, or Diane B. The evening compromises of a beginners’ class (not just for beginners), freestyle dancing, an intermediate class and more freestyle dancing. During the intermediate class, new dancers will be given the chance to practice the beginner moves at a slower pace with an experienced dancer in a separate room.
For anyone who doesn’t want the evening to end when the music stops, several dancers retire to The Postcard across the road for a chat and refreshment.

Classes in the Heart of Holmfirth Holmfirth Jive helping your Happiness and your Health
Holmfirth Jive – your local dance group every Wednesday 7.30 – 10 pm. Come and have fun. We are a very friendly dance group who love to dance and socialise. Friendships are formed here and become as important as the dance we all love. Some of us then meet up at other dance venues – its brilliant and Healthy! Don’t just believe me, the experts and research says so too!
