About Vibejive
Our background
When it was announced in December 2010 that Summerwine Jive was to be no more, a group of us decided to do something about it. We were concerned that Holmfirth would be losing a valuable asset and so formed VibeJive in February 2011. VibeJive is a non-profit making community based organization where all monies raised are put back in for the benefit of its members.
Style of Dance
Modern Jive is a partner dance which is easy to learn as the footwork is quite simple. The style of dance is loosely based on various types of dance including Latin, Ballroom, Jive and others. Most important of all, it is great fun and a brilliant way to make new friends.
Our Community
We are a very friendly dance group who love to dance and socialise. Friendships are formed here and become as important as the dance we all love. Most of us then meet up at other dance venues – its brilliant. We like to think we make everyone welcome and more experienced dancers help new members. We tend to get new members most weeks, so no need to feel inhibited, just come along and join in the fun. For more advanced dancers, we are sure you will find our Intermediate sessions challenging whilst entertaining.
Following on from our dance evening, for those who do not want the evening to end, some of us usually end up at The Postcard Inn across the road – it has become a VibeJive tradition! All are welcome, its very light hearted and a great way to wind down, have a laugh and put the world to rights!.
No Requirements
No special clothing is required and no special shoes (initially) – just be comfortable!!
No partner is required – you’ll meet plenty of people to partner up with.
No experience required – after 6 weeks you’ll be moving onto Intermediate!!!
Dance Nights
We begin with a beginners lesson at 7.30pm followed by freestyle until the intermediate lesson at around 9pm. Then it’s back to freestyle to practice those moves, or just dance you.
Future Plans
As VibeJive moves forward, we want to reward you for your fantastic support by investing profits back to you. We do this by bringing in guest teachers, subsidising events like the Christmas Party, and other ‘specials’ and upgrading our sound and lighting systems.
